The match between Bhutan and Maldives in the SAFF U-20 Championship ended in a 0-0 draw with neither side managing to score.

The team most satisfied with this draw will be Nepal, who were watching from the sidelines. With this result, they have secured a spot in the second round. Following the draw, both Maldives and Bhutan still have an equal chance of reaching the semifinals.

However, the path is most favorable for Sri Lanka, who currently has three points.

For Maldives or Bhutan to advance to the semifinals, they will have to work hard. To qualify, Maldives must defeat Nepal and then wait for the result of the match between Sri Lanka and Bhutan. Both of these matches will take place Friday. The match between Maldives and Nepal will be played in the afternoon, followed by Bhutan vs. Sri Lanka in the evening.

In the first half of the match, Maldives created several good scoring opportunities. Notably, a dangerous strike by Maldives' Ilan Imran was unsuccessful as it hit the side post of the goal.

Bhutan played very defensively during the first half. Consequently, the ball remained in Bhutan’s half for most of that period. However, they did manage to create occasional opportunities through counter-attacks.

As the match entered the final 20 minutes, fatigue was visible among the Maldivian players. Taking advantage of this, Bhutan pushed forward and strengthened their attacks, posing a threat to the Maldivian goal.

In the final 15 minutes, which included eight minutes of additional time, a powerful shot by Bhutan’s Sonam Dorji also struck the post of the Maldivian goal.

The man of the match was Bhutan’s goalkeeper, Tandin Penjor. He skillfully defended the dangerous attacks launched by Maldives.
