Miraash Imthiyaaz (Aash), a Maldivian playing for a Spanish team in the sixth division, has been selected for the Maldivian national team.

He is currently in Malaysia for friendlies against Singapore and Malaysia, with the national squad

Miraash, 22, who received his training at the UE Cornellà Academy in Barcelona, Spain, has experience as a forward and is presently playing for the Catalan league UE Rubí.

This is the first time Miraash got the chance to play in the senior football team. He has advanced since his football-days at Iskandhar School and his initial training at the Early Touch Academy in the Maldives. He was even scouted to compete in the 2019 South Asian Games in Nepal, however, he was unable to do so because of an injury.

As a wing forward in the Spanish league in 2019, Miraash showed excellent performance. Heena Ahmed, his coach in Early Touch and a former sports commissioner, had advised Miraash to take advantage of any opportunity he gets to play for the Maldives national team.

In an interview he gave to Boalha MV, Heena said, "My advice to Aash would be to seize every opportunity that is handed to him to play for the national team." Several coaches have expressed an interest in advancing Aash's football career.
