Seven individuals were arrested from Maamigili in Alif Dhaalu atoll in a prostitution sting on Monday.
Four Maldivian men, aged 26, 27, 30 and 32, two Maldivian women, aged 21 and 22, and a 32-year-old Bangladeshi man were arrested from a house in Maamigili over the alleged prostitution charges.
The Maamigili Magistrate Court has remanded the 21-year old female and 30-year-old male in prison for 15-days, while the others were remanded for 10-days.
The police did not disclose any further details of the detainees, nor of its operation that led to the arrests.
