Abdul Shakoor Abdulla, a Former Deputy Commissioner of Police, has passed away at the age of 75.
His son, former senior police officer Ahmed Shuhad, confirmed the news in a Facebook post, asking the public to keep his father in their prayers.
Shakoor passed away in India at 10:15 am this morning.
He retired from the police service on 5 March 2009 after more than 43 years of service.
At the time of his retirement, Shakoor said he was satisfied with his contribution to the force.
“I had originally decided to resign after 43 years of service. When the Police Act provided the opportunity for voluntary retirement, I chose to take it,” he said.
Police have expressed condolences to his family.
