The government has decided to apply a subsidy towards the fuel sold by the State Trading Organization (STO) to yellowfin tuna fishing vessels.
The government pledged to sell fuel from the FSM located at the Hulhumale' Kanneli Jetty at a subsidized rate to yellowfin tuna fishing vessels.
The Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources stated today that yellowfin tuna fishing vessels that fuel up at Hulhumale's FSM terminal and K. Himmafushi's FSM shed will have the fuel sold to them at a subsidized rate from today onward.
With the attacks on Iran that are being led by the United States of America (USA) and Israel that has started a war in the Middle East, the price of fuel on the world market has soared. However, the Maldivian government has decided to sell fuel to its citizens at affordable prices, with the government assuring that prices will not be increased.
A liter of petrol is currently being sold at MVR 16.01 at STO, with a liter of diesel being sold at MVR 17.54.
As part of the government's measures, STO is maintaining Maldives' fuel storages in such a way that it will not be depleted, as was stated yesterday by the Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed.
