MVR 4.5 million received as Fitr Zakat in first 20 days of Ramadan

MVR 4.5 million (over USD 290,000) has been received as Fitr Zakat during the first twenty days of this Ramadan.

Maldives Zakat House revealed statistics on Wednesday which show that they have received a total of MVR 4,499,433 (USD 291182.47) by the 20th of Ramadan.

Fitr Zakat had begun being accepted from March 11. Maldives Zakat House earlier said that it had received MVR 1.6 million (over USD 103,000) within the first ten days of Ramadan.

Fitr Zakat can be paid online until next Saturday. It can also be paid via Bandeyri Pay until the last day of Ramadan.

For those who prefer to pay zakat in person, arrangements have been made at the hall of the Islamic Centre, every day, except Fridays, between 11:00 hrs and 14:00 hrs.

Island Councils, too, accept Zakat payments.

Those who wish to pay zakat in staples are also able to do so until the end of next Tuesday. These will be accepted at the hall of Aminiya School, on weekdays between 13:00 hrs and 16:00 hrs. Next Tuesday, these hours will be extended from 13:00 hrs till 18:00 hrs.
