Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development has decided to grant recipients of land plots under the previous governments 'Binveriya' housing scheme until Wednesday, March 20, to collect their land registries.

In an announcement made on Thursday, the Ministry revealed that registries have been handed over to 8,394 individuals who were allocated land plots under the Binveriya scheme.

As per the last announcement by the Ministry, there are 303 individuals who have not collected the registries or letters of guarantee. Out of the total recipients, 16 had decided to forego the land for various reasons, and hence had decided not to sign the agreements. Meanwhile, 12 land recipients have been deceased since receiving land plots.

The ministry also said then that agreement signing with 120 recipients remained pending as there were further issues that the ministry needed looking into before finalizing agreements with them. The ministry did not divulge details regarding said issues.

The Ministry said that registries will be issued from Saturday, March 16, until 12:00 hrs on Wednesday, March 20.

Appointments for receiving registries can be made via the Hiyaavehi portal.
