Dr. Mohamed Shaheem, the Minister of Islamic Affairs, has responded to the recent parliamentary vote on the approval of Mohamed Muizzu's cabinet. The parliament, in its decision-making process, chose not to endorse Dr. Shaheem. Despite securing 30 votes in his favor, one vote short of the required 31 for approval, Dr. Shaheem expressed his respect for the parliament's decision.

In addressing the concerns raised by some parliament members regarding his candidacy, Dr. Shaheem stated, "We will thoroughly examine the concerns of certain members of parliament concerning me and work towards finding a resolution. I hold deep respect for the decision made by the members."

During the voting process, Attorney General Ahmed Usham and Housing Minister Dr Ali Haidar also did not receive a positive outcome. However, the president reinstated all three officials just a few hours later.

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs celebrated the reappointment of Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem at a gathering today. Dr. Shaheem expressed respect and acceptance regarding the parliamentary decision, stating, "There is no confusion in my mind over the parliament's decision. We will always respect the decisions of parliament."

Acknowledging President Dr. Muizzu's continued respect for him, Dr. Shaheem emphasized the challenging path ahead but affirmed determination to move forward. He committed to addressing concerns raised by some parliament members, aiming for resolution.

Dr. Shaheem highlighted the importance of harmony between the Islamic Ministry's leadership and the esteemed parliamentary institution within the country's democratic framework. He expressed the commitment to identify and address any issues for an amicable resolution.

Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem shared that the trust and good wishes he receives from the public serve as his motivation amid political challenges. He stressed the resilience of the Islamic Ministry in the face of political storms, emphasizing that the ministry's crucial work lies ahead.

Earlier, Shaheem criticized the party's decision to deny his approval, alleging misuse of parliamentary power. He claimed that former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih aimed to undermine religion.

The reappointment of ministers without parliamentary approval has sparked criticism from legal experts, who view it as a challenge to the legislative's decision without due respect.
