Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) has announced that signing agreements with flat owners can commence in three days following the completion of the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC)'s probe into the recipient list published by the former government.
During a short video released on their social media today, they said that the agreements have been printed and signing will begin three days after the issues related to the permanent list of flat recipients are settled. They assured to give more details later.
Under the “Gedhoruveriya” scheme [a housing scheme for residents of the greater Male’ area granting flats] announced by the former administration, 4,000 units of two-bedroom flats are being built. At the end of their term in office, the former administration had released a list of permanent recipients of the flat and provided agreements to some as well. Deducing that 13,000 individuals are eligible for that flat, the former state had vowed to develop more flats for the remaining recipients.
However, the distribution of the flats was halted due to multiple complaints lodged at the ACC regarding the list.
ACC said that as the issue is highly sensitive, their investigation team is working diligently to conclude it at the earliest.
“As it is an ingoing investigation and there are further matters noticed during the investigation, it is difficult to say a specific date when it will be concluded,” said a media official earlier on January 8.
