Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development has launched the Strata Portal on Monday.

In the property field, strata refers to a form of ownership where individuals own a unit or section of a building that has multiple units, while sharing ownership of the common areas with other owners.

The launching of the Strata Portal was inaugurated by former Housing Minister Ibrahim Rafeeq.

Minister of Housing, Land and Urban Development Dr Ali Haidar and other senior officials of the ministry were also present at the event.

Speaking at the event, Minister Haidar said that the new portal, implemented under this administration's 'Fourteen Weeks' targets, will provide convenience in registration and other formalities to the public, property owners, real estate industry professionals, architects, as well as lawyers.

"I believe that once the law we are drafting regarding strata buildings come into effect, this work will become even more complete," the Minister said.

The Minister noted that this portal would facilitate government regulation of strata buildings and management corporations of such buildings.

The portal is designed to provide ease to the real estate industry in developing strata buildings and complexes, and registering and managing them.

In the future, the portal will be developed to have a register of all strata properties in the country, as well as to allow applications for permits and services related to the field.
