Hulhumalé 3 reclamation first phase to conclude on Friday

Urbanco has said the reclamation of the first phase of Hulhumalé 3 will be completed on Friday, October 13.

Land reclamation of Hulhumalé 3 began in September 22. The area is designated to allocate new housing plots under the Binveriya Scheme announced by the current government.

Urbanco said 70 percent of Site-A of Hulhumalé has been reclaimed, with complete reclamation expected on Friday. The total land area spans 10 hectares.

Hulhumalé 3 land reclamation project will be carried under three phases.

After completing Site-A, work on Site-B is expected to commence. However, before this phase begins, Urbanco has requested to relocate the vessels berthed in the bay. The corporation had previously announced that the entire bay will be reclaimed as part of the project.

A total of 63 hectares of land will be added to Hulhumalé under the reclamation.

The current government had previously pledged to reclaim and allocate plots from the zone during its term in office.
