An accommodation block housing expatriate workers in Kulhudhuffushi has burnt down following a fire incident.

According to the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF), they received the news of a fire in the accommodation block for expatriates working to develop the 400 housing units in Kulhudhuffushi, at about 2:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. MNDF said the fire fighters of the Northern Area were able to put the fire out within half an hour.

No injuries were reported in the incident. However, the labor quarters, which were constructed from tin, were completely destroyed by the fire, According to MNDF, all items inside were damaged beyond use. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
