Ex-pres Nasheed establishes new environmental association

Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment on Monday registered a new environmental association established by former President Mohamed Nasheed.

'Maldives Coral Institute' was founded by Nasheed and Mariyam Rahil Naseem, in order to observe meteorological changes, improve protection of coral reefs, and research development methods for islands without negatively impacting the environment.

According to local media, all administrative works of the Coral Institute will be carried out at Nasheed's residence, 'Canareege', in capital Male' City.
