Inner Maldives CEO Mohamed Firaq has commended the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for taking the lead in ensuring visa arrangements for participation in ITB, one of the world's largest annual travel fairs held in Germany.
In a recent post on X, Firaq, a prominent figure in the country's travel industry, highlighted that, after attending the ITB Fair for 27 years, this marks the first time the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has asked about the visa arrangements.
While acknowledging that he already possesses a valid visa, Firaq expressed gratitude for the additional support extended to participants at this year's fair, scheduled from March 5-7.
A Foreign Ministry official confirmed that they have directly engaged with individuals on the participants' list, collaborating with the VFS office to streamline and expedite the visa process.
Firaq, in an interview with Mihaaru, emphasized that, in the past 27 years of attending the ITB Fair, the government had never reached out to facilitate visa arrangements until now.
Expressing appreciation, Firaq highlighted the challenges faced by many businessmen in obtaining visas for such fairs, often lasting only six days.
He further noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, under the leadership of Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer, is now prioritizing efforts to support local businesses, attract foreign investment, and promote the Maldives as committed by the government.
